My current yum-thoughts

Tuesday, November 1st, 2011

Been watching Supernatural lately. I tried awhile back and couldn’t get into the first season. The OAM watched it late nights for awhile after I was in bed and told me it did get considerably better. And he was right. It’s up to Buffy/Angel level of decency about mid 2nd season – and with all the Buffy/Angel people who were involved in it (not to mention Ben Edlund of Tick and Venture Brothers fame) it should be very similar. Horror series for nerds. Also, the music gets miles better in the 2nd season. They didn’t buy the rights to the music for the 1st season so what the original broadcast had was much better than the recorded version, apparently. They had that fixed by the 2nd season – classic rock.

Padalecki does absolutely nothing for me. First season Jensen Ackles didn’t either. My only male eye candy was Jeffrey Dean Morgan and he was kind of scarce in the first season. Second season there was a lot of Morgan and I started getting fond of Ackles. His character’s personality became pretty engagingly bad boy cute and he was a good cast for Morgan’s son.

Father-son duo? Creepy in real life but in my head? Mmmm…

Jensen Ackles

Jeffrey Dean Morgan

All the chicas are pretty well hawt. They don’t necessarily last more than a season or a couple of episodes because generally they are demons or other supernatural baddies, but while they are there, they are smokin’.

A good show and eye candy to boot

Been watching Luther on Netflix. It’s a BBC series about a brilliant yet violent DCI who stretches and breaks the line of regulations and legality in pursuit of justice. I know, I know. It’s a standard story. This is done very well. There is a secondary story running through every episode that keeps it from being too episodic and disconnected case to case. The secondary story is good and the primary cases he is solving are good with just enough twist to make them not quite standard detective series fare. The first two shows are not the best ones – stick with it. Plus, it has these two actors:

Idris Elba

Indira Varma

Each season has 6 episodes. Netflix has season one. Season two is going on currently but isn’t playing on BBC America until September. If you can get ahold of season one, watch it before September then be sure to catch the current season. In my opinion, the series is worth buying if you can’t get it any other way.

Two other favorites with these actors: Rocknrolla (Elba) and Rome (Varma)

For your weekend perusal:

Olyphant!!!!

If you haven’t seen Perfect Getaway, it’s not a bad movie.  Not stellar by any means, but I’ve seen it more than once and have sat through all of it each time. Plus it has Teh Hawtness of Leeloo.

Mila

And to offset the annoying presence of Steve Zahn in the movie, have some Kiele Sanchez.

She even guts a boar

Why these women are not the subject of stalker blogs, I have no idea

Maybe it’s because they are generally in geek fare and don’t wander around with various bits of attire strategically or drunkenly askew. They are gorgeous, classy women.

Early Presents

Friday, December 24th, 2010

I’ll try to keep some auto posts going and I’ll probably have some kind of limited access to the net at my in-laws place over the next week, but for now, here’s a nice visual as an early present.

Lingerie is one of the things I like about women – they understand packaging and the effort that goes into getting all dolled up. They wouldn’t just tear off pretty lacy things with a grunt to get down to business (at least I assume so, I haven’t met a woman in lingerie up close and personal).   And guys look silly in lingerie. Sorry guys, but it is true. Male lingerie seems to consist of novelty joke g-strings. Funny has a place in the bedroom, but generally not funny looking.

Damn cute

Emma Watson cut her hair and looks like a little pixie. I think it’s adorable. She has a good face for this cut.

And no, I don’t feel bad thinking thoughts about Hermione. She was an attractive teenager and now she’s an attractive woman.

Painful in the best way

Perrier by Dita

Apparently Dita Von Teese is doing an online commercial for Perrier. Whoever is supposed to be me walking through the mansion after her, they need to freakin’ focus. Why eyes are not glued to her is beyond me.

It is so worth the time if you are into Dita.

And with that, I’m out for the night.

The Losers

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

I know folks hated it. I thought it was watchable. Utterly predictable action movie. But it had some good lines and I liked the characters.

Plus, it had a great alpha male – Jeffrey Dean Morgan (aka The Comedian from The Watchmen). In addition to having wearing scruff well, the man just has a great voice. His voice drips maleness.

Zoe Saldana – cute but way too tiny.

And Idris Elba, another favorite of mine.

After seeing this, the OAM said “Why did they bother making A-Team? This is A-Team.”

Okay. Not going to throw any spoilers here, but I was watching True Blood last night (which I believe I have previously noted kicks the ass of Twilight up AND down the block).

Ladies (and gents if such is your persuasion) which would you rather?

What does it for you?

Sunday, July 4th, 2010

I think I have read this before somewhere, but it bears repeating. Christina Hendrick’s open letter to men:

We love your body. If we’re in love with you, we love your body. Your potbelly, everything. Even if you’re insecure about something, we love your body. You feel like you’re not this or that? We love your body. We embrace everything. Because it’s you.

Speaking of your body, you don’t understand the power of your own smell. Any woman who is currently with a man is with him partly because she loves the way he smells. And if we haven’t smelled you for a day or two and then we suddenly are within inches of you, we swoon. We get light-headed. It’s intoxicating. It’s heady.

Agree? Disagree? Something to add? How about you, guys? Anything you’d share as words of wisdom with us females?

Oh, and how could I post anything Christina H. without adding pictures?

Boy she shines up well. These were the only screencaps I could find of the Brown Betty episode of Fringe. I was really tempted to buy it on DVD just so I could screencap my own.  But it’s pretty expensive.

Woof. That is all.

I’ll be in my bunk.

Mila… groooowl

Sunday, April 11th, 2010

Yes, I am aware that the Resident Evil series is total crap. Yes, I do plan to see Resident Evil: Afterlife on opening night, whenever that is. And yes, I will buy the Blu-Ray. My only whine is that it won’t be neatly boxed with the other 3 in a set.  I’m kinda anal that way.

I am not a huge Ali Larter fan, but she did look good in the last RE movie. Not as good as Mila, but that might be impossible.

Buncha lousy young punks

We’re “becoming more juvenile as a nation,” he said. “The guys who won World War II and that whole generation have disappeared, and now we have a bunch of teenage twits.”

Might be worth getting an issue of GQ to read this interview. I lumme some Eastwood. Man is still damn sexy.

For a good weekend, apply fantasy liberally

Things are kind of hectic and also ugly around here the last few days and will probably continue to be so for a few more at least.  So here’s some material to indulge with while I’m away. Apologies for things being kind of fluffy and lame around here lately – current events are just to freakin’ depressing to comment on currently and life has been far too busy to come up with good material.
