What I want is to do the necessaries of adulthood from afar whenever possible, thank you. I already go in person to the dentist twice a year, to hair cuts once every 2 months or so and to the doctor twice a year. I also take the cats to the vet twice a year. Everything else I prefer to do online. If absolutely necessary, on the phone.

I’m going to call her tomorrow and try to get her to just email me a copy of the policy and if I have any questions or concerns I’ll call her. I know why she wants us there in person, though. It is to try to sell us more insurance. She already tried once to get us to refi our car loans with her company. Not gonna happen.

Sometimes I really hate grown up things. Dealing with this crap fucks with my calm.

Ah, well. At least Rocknrolla is on tv.

The Liberty Memorial tower has been open during the First Friday Art Gallery Walk all summer. We just found out about it last weekend – the last weekend it will be open at night for the rest of the year. Makes for a great shot of Union Station looking north at downtown KC. Just hanging out at the house this weekend, doing as little as possible- it’s been an obnoxious work week. Gonna be a gorgeous weekend weatherwise. Probably be full of photography jaunts if I know the OAM. Me, I’m crossing my fingers for an incorrect weatherman and at least one colder day full of rain and fog and thunder. I love those days.

Old Pharte realization thunders in when you hear the music of high school and college while shopping for groceries. My neighborhood store has been playing Billy Squier (listen to The Stroke next to the old dude squeezing the tomatoes, anyone?) and other such things that weren’t appropriate 20 and more years ago. Last week they were playing Rush’s Closer to the Heart (yes, I know that it’s older than 20 years but I didn’t discover Rush until college).  What’s amusing about it is also that the OAM and I had watched a special on Rush the previous evening and it took them years to be accepted by other than music geeks, pretty much. Now they are in the grocery store in middle America. You’ve come a long way, baby.

The documentary on Rush (Rush: Beyond the Lighted Stage) was good. I don’t often like behind the scenes band type stuff but this was interesting and funny. If you like the band, chances are that you’ve known about this and have been waiting for it to come out, but on the off chance that, like me, you missed hearing it was in the works, check it out.

Meanwhile, here is more Rush. I woke up this morning with the Grace Under Pressure album in my head. Probably my favorite Rush album.
