Over at Westsoundmodern there’s a great post reminiscing about a trip to Soap Lake, Washington. Chock full of characters the likes of which make the One Armed Man get all misty about wanting to live in a small, dysfunctional, out back of nowhere town someday.

Also sharing our table was a guy who had scandalized the town and couldn’t show his face anywhere other than after dark in the club as he had cheated on and then left his beautiful young wife for her mother, who had a face resembling a well worn leather Harley bag with eyes and a mouth that spewed obcenities like a veteran longshoreman. They say that love is blind but after seeing both mother and daughter I can say with certainty that in this case it was deaf and dumb as well.
