Militant Islam Threatens Us All
In a well written reminder, Benjamin Netanyahu (remember him?) talks about the legitimacy of Israel’s defense and of the ultimate goal of Hamas and Islamists like them.
In launching precision strikes against Hamas rocket launchers, headquarters, weapons depots, smuggling tunnels and training camps, Israel is trying to minimize civilian casualties. But Hamas deliberately attacks Israeli civilians and deliberately hides behind Palestinian civilians — a double war crime. Responsible governments do their utmost to minimize civilian casualties, but they do not grant immunity to terrorists who use civilians as human shields.
The international community may occasionally condemn Hamas for putting Palestinian civilians in harm’s way, but if it ultimately holds Israel responsible for the casualties that ensue, then Hamas and other terror organizations will employ this abominable tactic again and again.
And those who say that the “Palestinian” people don’t deserve to live in terror? Neither do the Israeli people.
The “Palestinians” elected Hamas. All of a sudden democratically elected governments don’t mean as much to terrorist apologists as they did when people didn’t want to recognize that elected goverment. The majority of those people elected a terror group to lead them. The path they walk now is one they chose. I see no reason for leniency for them. They made their choice, now they can live (or die) with the consequences of it.
If the Israeli government pulls out of this before every last Hamas bug is squashed to oblivion and their capability to fight is reduced to utter rubble and dust, what will come after that? Anyone who has paid any attention over the years knows the answer to that question. The terrorists will rearm and eventually start lobbing rockets indiscriminately into Israel yet again. And the IDF forces will be once again sent into a situation far more hazardous than necessary because of lack of backbone on the part of the government. (Do what you can – send ‘em a pizza)
Israel should not have to give up any territory it took in any war. They didn’t start the wars, and they shouldn’t be punished because their aggressors can’t manage to be competent and win the conflicts they start. The “Palestinians” and the refugee camps exist only for the purpose of beating a Jewish state over the head. The Arab world could have remedied the situation for those fellow Arabs years ago but chose not to. Solving a problem like that just isn’t beneficial to them – much like actually moving people out of poverty isn’t beneficial to Democrats. They refused to take in those refugees, instead condemning them to a life where their only options may seem to be embracing death and terror.
If anyone is to blame for the deaths in Gaza it is the other Arab nations who fuel the conflict and fund Hamas. But the world won’t admit that. Too much money spread around by oil-rich dictators, princes and kings. They have surely bought their lapdogs in the world court of opinion makers. They get good returns on their investments, I’ll give them that. At the bottom of it all, besides the power, is good old fashioned anti-Semitism. I used to think that all the calls of anti-Semitism were a bit like the boy who cried wolf. But if anything, this latest round of violence has utterly disabused me of that notion. The world, by and large, still hates Jews.
