I know, I know – like you care about my dinner…

Met the OAM at LC’s BBQ the other night after work. He’d been there before (they go for lunch frequently) but I had never been. They’ve been around forever and a day. One of KC’s foundation BBQ joints. And it does qualify as a “joint.” Seats maybe 20 people. Located on the verge of the ‘hood. Iron fence as bars over the windows and a whopping 3 parking spots out front in a tiny little parking lot. The owner’s “office” is one of the tables in the dining area. Menu boards that are probably 30 years old – the kind where you slide letters in the slots to make words, I think. You can smell the woodsmoke and meat from outside the restaurant.

They have one size of drink – 32 ounce styrofoam cups – and the fountain choices include strawberry and orange – not sure about grape. Their sandwiches are served on 3 slices of white bread with what I’m guessing is at least 1/2 or 3/4 pound of meat (picture is of half the sandwich). They have fried okra, fried mushrooms and spicy fried green beans on the menu.

The beans are probably rendered nutritionally valueless by the breading and deep frying but they sure are tasty…

The sauce is okay. Whatever is on the table is somewhat different from what is on the sandwiches. I like the stuff on the sandwiches better. The meat is juicy. I’ve had better smoke on meat but this is exceptionally tender. And you get enough food for at least 3 meals. :)

If you are ever in the area, I’d recommend stopping by.

I gain two pounds just from entering KC city limits.

I am so picky about my BBQ. They make what is called “hash” here and I swear to God, I found a human ear in it once. Well, okay, it may have just been cartilage, but it was nasty just the same.
