Camp Stress for kids
Not the stress you are probably thinking of, either. The stress of being away from home for the first time in a strange place, of being around strangers, of having to cope with weird camp counselors who want you to sing and be cheery all day long…
No, this is a camp to help kids cope with stress. WTF. If your kid has enough stress that he needs to go to a camp to teach him how to deal with it, your doing it wrong.
This is a parental fail on a huge scale if you are dumping enough stress on your child that he needs coping skills already.
Instead of leading a stress-free childhood, from the moment a child wakes up to the time he/she goes to bed, they’re under a constant bombardment to make decisions. Would you like pancakes or cereal, apple or orange juice for breakfast? Would you like to wear the pink Hollister or the blue Abercrombie top? What would you like for lunch? Would you like mommy or daddy to drive you to school ?(the child can’t walk to school, he/she might be abducted) Would you like to do your homework before or after dinner? What would you like for dinner? What would you like to watch on TV. Etc.
Make a freaking decision for the poor kid, you’re killing them.
I do think this is part of adult stress problems as well. We have too many choices we have to make. It’s great to have them and all, but every freakin’ thing we do requires multiple choices and layers of decision making.
Buy some fruit. Organic or non-organic? Small local farm or large foreign farm? Wash it before you eat it with the special pesticide cleansing spray the store also sells or just use water? What kind of water? Is your tap water good enough to drink? Should you use bottled water? Okay, what kind of bottled water? Do you reuse the bottles then and fill them up yourself somewhere? Are you filling up landfills with your plastic bottles? You selfish prick. You are killing the earth just because you wanted a banana. Happy now?
